Summary

A university in Kyiv (Ukraine) offers a new system of used tire separation by a magnetic shock method to remove steel belts from used tires in the form of high-quality steel wire scraps. The organisation wants to develop a production facility that houses special equipment that is based upon the technology of the magnetic shock method. Therefore they are looking for investors and partners for technical cooperation or joint venture to build--up this production facility.

Description

The “magnetic shock method” as a basic technology is IP protected. The method of separation is based upon the passing of current impulses through the wires of the metal cord of the tires.

The new system will be installed into the technological chain “Tires collectors – Tires processors – End-Markets “. The new system will provide the pre-processing of tires in form of separation of high-quality steel wire scraps from rubber pieces.

The high-quality steel wire scraps will be removed to sell it as a high-quality steel scrap (new end-market for the industry).

It also will provide the substantial optimization of rubber transportation costs due to more effective filling up of containers.

For the new system power consumption of the separation process is about 0.01 kWh per 1 kg of tire weight.

The new system effectiveness (estimation) = (300 tires*20kg)/1 hour = 6 tones/hour of used tires or 0.6 tons of high-quality steel wire scraps per hour or 0,6*$260 ( one tone steel scrap price)= $156 per hour.

Advantages and Innovations

The main advantages of the new technology and system are the following:

• The use of new system provides production/"mining" of high-quality steel wire scraps to sell it.

• Transportation and further processing of tires become cheaper. The collection and transportation of whole used tires is quite expensive due to the low efficiency of filling volume for transportation, and the absence of metal simplifies during the further processing of tire rubber.

• There are no additional contaminations as output products are produced by means of new system.

• The technology does not use any high-temperature processes and burnings.

• The technology does not use any chemical agents during operations.

• The technology is highly effective, for example, the 10 000 tons of tires could be processed per year by only one technological unit to get about 1000 tons of steel wire or $260 000 of additional revenue from the sale of the wire as a high-quality steel scrap (rates in Ukraine).

• To operate the device the one trained operator is needed.

• The technology and the unit are easy scalable to fit any market size.
