Summary

A university in Kyiv (Ukraine) offers the technology for preclinical research of antimetastatic and antitumor agents based on the induction of cancer metastasizing into liver. The advantages: short time period for testing, high effectiveness. The university is looking for partners interested in experimental study of novel agents of antimetastatic effect, as well as in research of effectiveness of complex administration of antimetastatic and hepatoprotective agents.

Description

Among all liver cancer types 90% are metastatic. Every third oncological patient, independently of primary tumor, has a metastatic lesion in liver, from 50 % to 75 % of all oncological patients die due to liver metastases. In this connection the development of agents for liver metastatic tumor therapy is an solution of the very urgent problem of health protection.

The organization had developed the technology that allows performing preclinical research of therapy agents.

Technology includes stages mentioned below:

- Generation of the experimental model of metastasizing tumor by inoculation of tumor cells to experimental animals.

Standardized suspension of tumor cells is obtained by the use of conventional technique and injected intrasplenic what provides of 100% of metastases in liver at short notice (on the 14th day);

- Research of antimetastatic and antitumor effect of examined agents.

Examined preparations are injected intravenously, intramuscularly or locally in an area of the tumor growth of experimental animals. The dynamics of tumor growth and metastasis are registered, as well as clinical and immunological parameters in dynamics are evaluated.

The organization is looking for technical and research cooperation for experimental study of novel agents of antimetastatic effect, as well as in research of effectiveness of complex administration of antimetastatic and hepatoprotective agents.

Advantages and Innovations

The main advantages are the following:

- High effectiveness of the method that provides of 100%, metastases in liver of animals.

- Reducing of a research period of anticancer agent.
